Every month, certified charter and sales brokers graduate from IABI — from the Americas, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. This is where they connect with the companies looking to hire them.

The Roles

What the job actually involves

Two distinct careers. Worth understanding the difference before you choose.

Aircraft Charter Broker

Booking private flights for clients
  • ✓ Source aircraft and quote trips through platforms like Avinode
  • ✓ Vet operators — AOC, insurance, DO85 — before a client flies
  • ✓ Coordinate permits, slots, handling and catering
  • ✓ Faster path to a first transaction; smaller margins, higher volume
  • ✓ Repeat clients build the income over time

Aircraft Sales Broker

Representing buyers and sellers in aircraft transactions
  • ✓ Value aircraft using maintenance status, engine programmes and market data
  • ✓ Run LOIs, purchase agreements, escrow and deposits
  • ✓ Coordinate pre-purchase inspections with the right MRO
  • ✓ Longer sales cycles; far larger commissions per deal
  • ✓ Fewer transactions, deeper client relationships

How brokers actually get paid

Broker income is commission-based rather than salaried in most cases. Charter brokers typically earn a margin or commission on each trip they arrange; sales brokers earn a percentage of the transaction value, which on business aircraft means far larger sums per deal but fewer deals per year.

Some brokerages hire on a base plus commission, particularly for junior brokers, and some operate purely on commission. Both models exist across the industry and the balance varies by company, region and how much business you bring with you.

We won't put a number on it, because anyone who does is guessing. What determines your income is deal flow, the market you work, and how well you keep clients — which is exactly what the training and the network are there to build.

For Brokerages & Operators

Hire brokers who already know the work

Recruiting brokers is slow, and training them from scratch is slower. Our graduates arrive already understanding regulations, operator vetting, quoting, contracts and client handling — so the ramp-up is shorter and the early mistakes are fewer.

Open new markets without new offices

Our graduates are based across the Americas, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Hiring locally-based brokers is a far cheaper route into a region than opening in it.

Trained before they reach you

Certified on regulations, aircraft categories, operator verification, quoting discipline, escrow and contracts — not learning it on your clients.

Pre-screened, not a CV pile

We recommend graduates we know completed the certification and engaged with the material, matched to the market and specialisation you're hiring for.

Career Questions

What people ask us

No, and we won't pretend otherwise. What we do is train you to a standard employers recognise, put you in a network of 950+ working brokers and operators, and introduce certified graduates to hiring partners looking for people in their markets. The Complete Program and the Coaching Program also include a six-month guaranteed internship with Certified Jets (part of the same group as IABI), which is real working experience. Whether that turns into a permanent role depends on you, the company and the market — as it does in any industry.

No. Most of our students come from outside aviation entirely — sales, hospitality, finance, logistics. The courses start from terminology and build up. What matters more than a background is the willingness to learn an unfamiliar regulatory and commercial environment properly.

Yes, and it's often an advantage. Brokerages hire internationally precisely because a broker based in a market they don't cover opens that market for them. Our graduates work across the Americas, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Charter gets you to a first transaction faster on smaller margins and higher volume, which suits people who need income sooner. Sales involves longer cycles and much larger commissions per deal. If you're undecided, the Complete Program covers both certifications for $1,499 — $499 less than buying them separately — and includes the internship.

Tell us the roles you're hiring for and the markets you want covered, and we introduce graduates who match. There's no cost to join the hiring network. Email [email protected] and we'll take it from there.
